Gleditsia tracanthos or honey locust has historically borne lots and lots of thorns to keep off pesky giant sloths during the last ice age.

Modern day honey locust is bred to be thorn free and is commonly used as an ornamental.

Look for pinnately compound leaves in your neighborhood to identify honey locust!

Know the plants around you and save plants to save the planet!
