Dipsacus sylvestris or “Teasel” is a non-native plant common to the roadsides of the U.S.A., is originally from Europe and Asia. Teasel was brought over to the U.S.A. to help in the processing of sheep wool; the spiky plant makes a great wool comb. Today, teasel is everywhere and threatens to take over native landscapes across the nation.
What else besides wool is teasel good for you ask? Well, helping to fight Lyme disease in humans of course! Extracts from the root of teasel are made into a powder or pill form; and when taken will draw the bacteria that is Lyme disease, out of your bones and tissues, into your bloodstream, so antibiotics and other medicines can then rid it from the body.
Know the plants around you and save plants to save the planet!
